New to Professional Life Coaching?
Maybe you’ve heard the term ‘Life Coaching’ being thrown about in conversation, but you’re not quite sure what all the fuss is about. As a Professional Certified Coach my aim is to give you a comprehensive overview of this hot topic. We’ll examine the inner workings and uncover the secrets of this intriguing new self-help profession. Find out what it’s like to have a Life Coach in your corner!
Before I started my own journey into Professional Coaching, I didn’t even know what a Life Coach was. That may sound strange coming from someone who is PASSIONATE about what they do, RIGHT?
Well, let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I am so passionate about Life Coaching.
Some time ago, I was going through a difficult time myself and a friend suggested I see a Life Coach. All of my life, I had lived with a ‘Believe in yourself’ attitude. The idea of transformation and self-empowerment appealed to me on so many levels that I wanted to know more. I was intrigued enough to at least have a Discovery session. All I can say, is it changed my life!
Professional Coaching as defined by the International Coach Federation as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal or professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment.
As a Professional Coach, I always honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole. My aim is to encourage client self-discovery and empowerment, giving 100 percent commitment to get them where they want to be. I always go the extra mile, because I love nothing more than watching each and every one of my client’s transformations.
Encourage client self-discovery
Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
Hold the client responsible and accountable
This process helps clients dramatically improve their outlook on work and life, while unlocking their true potential and gaining more clarity.
I bet you’re wondering HOW DOES LIFE COACHING WORK?
Because everybody is different, and no one problem is the same, sometimes the best way to get a sense of life coaching is to see how a session unfolds.
All coaches are different but our desire is the same. We coach from the heart and create a safe, nonjudgmental space for each client. Of course, everything is strictly confidential.
Life coaching is generally done over the phone, so that you can obtain coaching anytime anywhere, including from the comfort of your own home.
Because your privacy and comfort is foremost in my mind, my coaching can be done over the phone or Skype. This maximizes your time, lets you feel completely at ease and is particularly useful if you can’t or don’t want to travel. About 80% of my coaching is done over the phone, and for this reason, I often have clients from all over the world!
After our first Discovery session I will create a Bespoke Coaching package that is tailored just for your specific needs.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING OUR TIME TOGETHER??
Before your coaching session, you will complete a pre-session form and describe your accomplishments and challenges from the previous week.
You will also determine what you would like to focus on during the session, and send this prior to our session.
At the start of your session, we will track your progress together, and review what you achieved since the last life coaching session.
You will identify what you want to be coached on during your session and together we will explore any issues you may have.
You may need to get unstuck, or start seeing the issue you are facing from a different perspective.
You may need to identify the place this issue is coming from, and what is the best way of approaching it. If not, we will work together on reframing the issue, and outlining the best way to approach it.
You may need to get clear about the obstacles in front of you.
You may need to learn new strategies, or tweak those that aren’t working for you in order to overcome these obstacles.
Together, as your coach, we will come up with an action plan on what needs to be done or overcome.
Finally, we will look together toward the coming week and set out what you will accomplish and achieve in that week.
After your session I will create a follow-up from your session that summarizes what we have agreed to. This creates accountability and motivation to keep you moving toward your goals.
My clients often tell me that I bring a positive energy into every situation. I have a strong work ethic, excellent listening and questioning skills, and I always aim to provide a supportive environment for my clients.
To me, change is an opportunity to grow and flourish.
“What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.”
